Society is failing boys
In a world that's louder, faster, and more confusing than ever, boys are falling behind in school, struggling with mental health and growing up in a culture that offers little in the way of real guidance or support.
The stark reality boys face
Research from The American Institute for Boys and Men reveals a troubling rise in the male suicide rate, with a 25% increase over the past decade. Men are 4x more likely than women to take their own lives. Young men are also 15% less likely to earn a bachelor`s degree compared to their female peers.
Academic demands continue to rise, yet boys are frequently less equipped with the emotional tools or resilience to manage stress or setbacks. Young men are also 15% less likely to earn a bachelor’s degree compared to their female peers.
Amid rising public debate about the challenges boys face — recently reignited by the Netflix series Adolescence — the need for meaningful action is more urgent than ever. Mark Brooks OBE, a prominent advisor on issues affecting men and boys, puts it plainly:
"A continual lack of concrete action will no longer do. Tackling the problems boys have reduces the problems some boys cause – to themselves and others, including women and girls."
Boys are more than 2x as likely to be diagnosed with ADHD than girls (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention)
Nearly 25% of children in the US live in single-parent homes, many without a consistent male figure to guide them (US Census)
73% of Gen Z social media users have witnessed misogynistic content online, with half encountering it weekly (Amnesty International)
Teen depression rates increased by 52% between 2005 and 2017 (American Psychological Association)
